Trucking Blog Gossip July 3rd, 2008

I was going to make a video talking about different trucking blogs, but then i remembered that i don’t have to make a video i can just type. Is it that i don’t like the camera or the camera doest like me. Talking isn’t one of my strong points. At least talking to a camera isn’t.

So here is the low-down.
We have lost two truck driver bloggers! One is still holding onto hope. And it looks like the other has shut the door forever. Both of them are great writers. One was/is a teacher and the other was/is a journalists. Ive posted their links here before but here they are again.
http://gypsytrucker.blogspot.com “Gypsy Trucker”
http://the18wheeler.blogspot.com “The 18 Wheeler”

Go read em. And say hi!

I would encourage you to encourage them to never give up hope and keep the dream alive and all that crap but trucking stinks!
There i said it. Ya, i love it, buts its like loving…
Talking to a camera.
I think i would be able to talk to a camera if i had the vocabulary i had before i started driving. After years of saying nothing more than Yes, No, footlong turkey on Honey oat, That is to go, Thank You. I have lost the ability to speak English.
For the most part. Its no joke.
Not
speaking
hinders
1′s
ability…

to speak.

My vocabularie are signfiantlekly worser

Spel check HELLPaMENOW!!!!

If i had not moved when i was 3. And 5. And 7. And 13. And on and on and on, i doubt this blog would ever exist. I suppose im a nomad. A wonderer.
After 14 i lost track. 14 towns & city’s. I still dream about getting that damn Airstream and just living wherever the thing stops.

And now.
The truck driver blogger news brief:
Lyndon is still blazing across the country. Canada AND the US. And he is getting written up in magazines right and left because he is awesome. (Lyndon, when do i get that candy sucker thing with the bug inside?)

Gi-Gi Roxx, A lady trucker who is WAY to busy to leave a comment on this here blog is still trucking along. I LOVE reading new blogs from new truckers. I think it should be a requirement. Want to start driving? Ya gotta start a blog. GiGi is good people.

http://gremmie08.blogspot.com still has a broken link to my blog, which is ok. I think he is too busy trying to find love in every state, providence, region, town, country this side of the Atlantic.

The Ducks Truckstop. I met this guy on YouTube and found out he was blogging. This man is a D.O.T. officer in Canada. What is a D.O.T. officer? [Department of Transportation] Well, if the local cop who pulled you over for speeding downtown last week was a cub. A small animal. An animal who had not yet become an adult. Then rd309 would be a bear. Yes Bear, as in full grown bear. Luckily he is Canada and i will probably never met him. Still seems like a nice guy though. In fact probably one of the nicest guys ever know to human-man-kind. I just hope i never met him!

Wayne.. Whats up with Wayne? http://adventuresintrucking.com
I’m not sure, i haven’t talked to him …*edit – i deleted what i wrote here before because it was just dumb…. in a while
Wayne still owns his truck. I think he is about done with trucking. I should call him.

http://westandfreedom.blogspot.com I believe, is a French speaking Canadian. I like this guy but our words get tangled in knots sometimes in comments. Check him out svp.
Svp means please in French according to babelfish.

About me: Every time i go into the office. (((The one where the boss man is) and that dispatcher who thinks i cant write my own name)). yeah i suck at doing paperwork, i admit it), they are on the internet, watching YouTube videos, pulling up maps, checking the price of tea in china.
When i was with the big company i had anonymity. Im sure somebody. A dispatcher, a driver, someone in safety, possibly the owner of the company at one time stumbled upon this blog.
Im not for mixing pleasure with work. How does that phrase go? Mixing Work and Pleasure. Ive went to great extremes to hide the logo and even the color of the truck i was driving throughout this blog. And there were many times when i almost burped up http://truckdriverblog.blogspot.com to a dispatcher. But i didn’t. Once someone you work for attaches your blog with their company they will either tell you to remove any and every video that has to do with their company. -Ive seen this happen on the YouTube, actually the person got fired. More than one. It would take to another 1000 words to explain it all.
Or, they will try to manage what you post. Or they will welcome it and double your pay.
Never seen that last one happen yet.

Trying to gauge someone or a business’s reaction and hoping they will smile and reward you is not worth the risk. Ain’t no good posting your company’s name on your web page or you tube page. I knowed this from the beginning.
Because i am doing such short runs and i see no one else carrying a camera and filming things right and left… I might get discovered here. Im trying to think of a way to explain my need to video things, but for now im trying to figure out how to mount a camera to the end-dump and cab and catwalk all at the same time without anyone asking, “Why you have so many cameras on your truck?”
Im working on creating something here but im also trying to hold onto this here job ya see. Hopefully ill just slip into that weirdo vidoe guy who likes to video things and nobody know no difference.

All talkin like im southern…..
Why, i do not know.

I added a link a while back to The Little Truckers blog. Here is a video she just made.

This is the end of the video blog discussion.
If you are my boss, please dont fire me, and dont ask any questions as i pull out of the yard tomorrow with cameras mounted every which where.
That is professional equipment.
Someday i will be famous.
